What is Andes Carbon Program?

Andes Carbon Program has been running for 3 years, covering more than 75,000 acres in the US Midwest. Farmers enrolled in the program benefit from an extra revenue stream of $10 per enrolled treated acre, simply by applying Andes’ microbial inoculant – without changing their farming practices and with no investment required. The program offers a one-year agreement with the option to re-enroll at the end of each season.

Andes Carbon Program is complementary with regenerative agriculture practices, thus farmers can enroll in both programs simultaneously. This is because Andes’ beneficial microbe contributes to the generation of soil inorganic carbon (SIC), whereas regenerative agriculture builds up soil organic carbon (SOC).

How it works:

Farmers enrolled in Andes Carbon Program receive Andes’ microbial inoculant free of charge. Farmers are responsible for applying the microbial inoculant on their enrolled acres (in-furrow or as a seed treatment). The Andes team manages all soil sample collection and analysis required for the Carbon Program. Farmers receive guaranteed payment at the end of the season regardless of the amount of carbon captured.

A Qualified Grower can:

  • Earn $10 per treated acre, paid at the end of the season

  • Earn $3 per untreated acre, paid at the end of the season

  • Access Andes microbial inoculant for free

QUALIFICATIONS FOR FIELDS?

  • Crop is corn, soybean, wheat, or canola

  • Topsoil pH is greater than 6.5

  • Field is not irrigated

  • No lime has been applied in the current year or the year prior

  • No other microbial products are applied, except for Rhizobium

  • Commitment to enroll untreated field(s) alongside treated field(s) (10% of total enrolled treated acres) for carbon dioxide removal calculation

  • Andes team has access to enrolled fields for soil sampling purposes

WHAT GROWERS SAY ABOUT ThE PROGRAM:

“I am excited to begin my third year working with Andes. Their microbial product is easy to use and provides me the flexibility I look for when trying a new product. It is great to be part of a carbon program in agriculture that only requires a one-year term agreement, seamlessly integrates with existing agricultural practices, and guarantees payment at the end of the year.” - Jeremy Rittenbach, North Dakota
